At CALM, we believe wellness isn’t a luxury, it is a birthright. Our work is anchored in the understanding that too often, Black women are asked to carry the weight of strength alone. We strive to break down the barriers that too often keep Black women from prioritizing their mental health and emotional well-being. From the high cost of care to the stigma of seeking support, we understand the unique challenges women face. CALM exists as a sanctuary to just simply be. A place where rest, healing, and wholeness are embraced as essential, not optional.

Our work extends beyond individual self-care. We are committed to community wellness creating ripple effects that reach families, workplaces, and neighborhoods. From hosting pop-up wellness spaces in everyday community locations to designing programs that honor cultural traditions, everything we do is centered on making wellness feel welcoming, familiar, and safe.

At CALM, we believe that wellness is not a privilege; it is a birthright. Our mission is to make healing accessible, culturally affirming, and deeply rooted in our community for Black women. We know the barriers that too often stand in the way: the cost of care, the lack of time, the stigma around seeking support, as well as the absence of spaces that truly reflect our lived experiences. We exist to remove those barriers and create a sanctuary where women can rest, restore, and reconnect with themselves.

Founded with the vision of transforming how wellness is experienced, CALM blends evidence-based mental health practices with holistic, culturally grounded approaches. We understand that healing is not one-size-fits-all, and that’s why our programs, whether a calming breathwork session, a restorative Self Care Share event, or a day of intentional community connections are designed to meet women exactly where they are, both physically and emotionally.

Restorative Self Care

A safe, supportive circle where women come together to rest, reflect, and exchange simple self-care practices that nurture healing.

Breathwork Sessions

A guided practice that uses intentional breathing to release stress, calm the mind, and restore balance to the body.

Answers to common CALM questions

CALM is a nonprofit dedicated to creating safe, accessible, and culturally affirming spaces where Black women can prioritize self-care, mental health, and community connection without barriers.

Our programs are designed with Black women in mind, but all women are welcome to attend. We intentionally create spaces where Black women feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

  • Self-Care Share: A CALM signature program offering free, spa-inspired self-care experiences. Designed as a culturally affirming space for black women to pause, recharge, and connect. Hosted in partnership with community organizations and wellness practitioners.
  • Therapy Support Program: CALM provides access to bi-weekly therapy sessions to Black women for direct therapeutic support to increase access to mental health care at no cost.
  • Support Circle: CALM provides access to bi-weekly therapy sessions for direct therapeutic support to increase access to mental health care at no cost to participants.
  • Self Concept Program: An 8-week coaching journey designed rebuild confidence, alignment with true selves, and embrace holistic wellness.

We bring our programs directly into the community, partnering with local shelters, community centers, community gardens, food kitchens, and other organizations that serve women. Our goal is to meet women where they are, removing barriers like travel, time, and cost.
